Naga Bringing
in More Slot Machines
NagaWorld, Ltd. has signed a deal to
bring in another 200 slot machines – and
the people of Phnom Penh could not be
more divided over the decision. The
casino is the only one in the country
that is licensed, and as it already
offers slot machines, many felt that
this was more than enough already. But
proponents of the slot machines are
thrilled as they say that there were not
enough before and now they can really
enjoy themselves.
NagaWorld has signed a deal with Elixir
Gaming Technology to supply the slot
machines to the casino. They will be
bringing in an additional 200 slot
machines to the luxury casino which will
bring their number from 440 to 640. They
said that they expect that the first 120
of the slot machines will be up and
running the first quarter of the year
and that the rest of them will be ready
by the end of the second quarter.
The
deal comes with a hefty price tag as the
slot machine distributor has to pay the
casino a $5.48 million commitment fee by
the end of January and the companies
will share the revenue from the slot
machines. Elixir will get 25% of the
revenues and the casino will get the
rest. As they are the only casino that
is allowed to offer slot machines the
distributor knows that there is a lot of
revenue to be had at that location. If
people want to gamble then they have to
go there.
The
slot machines are not all wine and roses
though. There are some who are very
upset at what they see as completely
unnecessary. They argue that the amount
of slot machines that they had already
was too much and that by bringing in
more they are going to be facing more
crime and addiction than before.
