Sentencing
Postponed
It is
amazing in this day and time to think
that some people not only think they can
get away with cheating at a slot
machine, but that they actually do it to
see if they can. The casinos keep a
Black Book that has names in it of all
of the people who try to cheat at the
slot machines or any other games within
the casino. If you get your name on the
book you are done in the casino. This
book is passed around as well, so if you
get your name in the Black Book for
cheating at slot machines in one casino,
you are going to be facing being barred
from all of the casinos.
Two
men who were already listed on the
casino’s Black Book decided to try it
again and used a woman as their
accomplice. William Cushing and Michael
McNeive have pled guilty to the use of a
cheating device in a slot machine, which
is a felony. Their accomplice, Susan
Lewanda was also found guilty of
conspiracy to commit theft which is a
gross misdemeanor.
They
went to several casinos and tried it at
their slot machines, and were successful
until they were caught. Even though all
have been found guilty their sentencing
has been postponed to April 15th.
McNeive and Cushing are looking at
between one and three years in prison or
probation, an a fine of $10,000. Lewanda
is looking at up to a year in the
Clark
County
Detention
Center and could have to
pay a fine of $2,000. All three may be
ordered to pay restitution to the
casinos as well.
Cushing has already been arrested
several times for trying to rip off slot
machines and what not, and McNeive has
been arrested for similar crimes.
Cushing and Lewanda would stand watch at
the slot machines while McNeive put in
the money. They were $1 bills that were
forged to be $100.
