State Says No
Again
Many
residents within the state of
Florida
are getting more than a little tired of
the slot machine deal with the Seminole
Indians. They want a deal signed and
they want it taken care of – they are
tired of listening to it on the news –
especially since it looks as though it
is not going to turn out well for the
state.
Governor Charlie Crist signed a deal
with the tribe to give them legalized
slot machines and exclusive access to
blackjack in return for part of the
revenue to come back to the state.
However, legislators got upset that they
were not taken into consideration and
put an end to the deal. Now the state
has been going back and forth to give
them a deal, but nothing has been signed
yet. Crist simply understood that as
soon as Miami Dade and Broward Counties
legalized slot machines that they were
going to have to let the tribe offer
them as well. He was just trying to get
some revenue for the state.
But
the legislator said no and has been
running around in circles to try and get
a deal signed. The fact of the matter is
that if they don’t hurry up the National
Indian Gaming Commission is going to
step in.
If they do that they are going to
take blackjack away from the tribe and
they are going to take away all hope of
revenue coming into the state from any
of the gaming.
The
tribe will be allowed to offer slot
machines on their land, but the state
won’t see any of the revenue from it.
Crist simply wanted to keep that from
happening – but it looks like he may be
unsuccessful.
