Getting Ready for Table Games
With
so many other states offering slot
machines, there needs to be more to the
gambling arena. Places like
Atlantic City and Las Vegas also offer table games which makes
them all that much more desirable to go
visit. But now Pennsylvania has entered the ring as well,
and they are now offering table games as
well – so what is a state to do? Why
join the fray and offer their residents
table games as well – which is exactly
what
Delaware
is doing.
The
small state has been plugging along with
their slot machines and doing well, but
now they have PA and NJ to the north
both offering table games in addition to
their slot machines. The state thought
it was probably time that they joined
them. There are a couple of bills that
have been written out exactly saying
what table games they would bring in and
how many, and they are expected to pass
fairly quickly. In fact, the House of
Representatives is expected to pass it
next week and send it on to the Senate.
The
regulations have been set forth very
clearly and they expect that they will
have final approval from the General
Assembly before they leave for their six
week break. House Majority Leader Pete
Schwartzkopf says that he expects that
final approval will not be an issue for
the group. He has been a long time
proponent of expanding their gambling
options past slot machines and past the
three racetracks that they have.
He
said that he is not going to delay the
vote so that he can get more casinos,
but that it is something he is going to
push strongly for in the future. He says
he is “looking at the big picture” and
that means letting the other venues go
for now, and bringing in table games to
keep their slot machines company.
