Slot Machines
of Tomorrow
The
slot machines that we have today are a
far cry from the ones of yesteryear. The
original one had very little to do with
all of the bells and whistles that there
are today, and although it has been a
gradual change from one to the other,
the changes are substantial. Initially
the first slot machines had reels and
you put a quarter into them and hoped
that more would come out. You pulled the
handle and hoped for the best.
Then
you started seeing slot machines with
buttons instead of handles – or in some
cases they had both. Those slot machine
players that wanted to still pull the
handle could, and those that wanted to
push a button could do that. And you
started seeing more lines across the
front of the slot machine as well.
Instead of choosing to have one line
across and hope that you could hit
something, instead you started seeing 3,
6, 12, 25 and so on and you could choose
how much you wanted to bet on those
lines.
The
amounts that you could win increased as
well – instead of hoping for maybe a
hundred dollars now players were hoping
for millions. Cash went away and instead
there became a ticket in and ticket out
situation so that players did not have
to handle the money anymore. For many
this was not a welcome change as they
liked the sound of the coins hitting the
bin – so some slot machines added the
sound effect in.
But
experts say that for all our revolutions
in the slot machine industry we are not
even close to what their capabilities
might be. Every year the manufactures of
the slot machines come out with bigger
and better offerings and new
technologies that put the ones of
yesterday to shame. They say that this
next decade is going to have a lot to
show for itself in the slot machines
industry and that it should prove to be
very exciting.
