Turning Around?
There
are so many reports these days of slot
machines not making the money that they
used to that to hear that they might be
turning around is good news. So many
states across the country now depend on
slot machine revenue that when those
numbers drop so does the money that they
have in their budgets for much needed
programs. The slot machines are quite
often the biggest money maker that a
state has – so when their numbers drop
they have to start making cuts that no
one wants them to make.
But a
recent study says that slot machines
might actually be on the rise again.
They looked at the numbers and where the
slot machines were this year as compared
to last and they say that there is an
improvement. They say that the amount of
money that the slot machine revenue was
down this year is still down from where
they used to be – but it is not as big
of a jump as it was from the year
before.
They
look at the numbers of slot machines and
how much each of them made two years
ago. Then they compared those numbers
and how much the revenue dropped between
that year and last year. Then they
compared it to how much they dropped
this year, and they said that slot
machines are not losing as much money as
they were.
They
agreed that they were losing money –
just not as much. This they argue means
that people are starting to play the
slot machines again, and those people
who are playing are doing so with more
money than they were. They are still
losing players – just not as many and to
as high of a degree.
