Slot Machines are Still Slot Machines

Bay County is fighting a losing battle, or at least some believe they are. They are trying to keep from expanding gambling in the county, but what officials don’t realize is that it has already happened. They have several bingo and arcade halls that have glorified slot machines in them, and they are illegal.

That simple fact however, has not stopped businesses from having them. They asked Oasis Sweepstakes to stop operating their slot machines and they complied, however, there are other places that are not so willing to give in. Emerald Cost Bingo has slot machines, Wild Bills Bingo has slot machines, and they are still up and running.

They call them bingo machines, or video redemption games, but what it amounts to is the fact that they are illegal slot machines. Florida only allows slot machines in one county right now and it is Broward. Other counties are fighting to get the slot machines legalized, but they aren’t yet.

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office says that the only gambling allowed in their county is the lottery and bingo. They don’t have a pari-mutuel track, but there is one in Washington County, so people can go there. They say that slot machines are illegal, no matter how you look at them, and if you are operating them, they are going to close you down.
