Kansas
Lottery has Banner Year
Not only
is it the Kansas Lottery’s 20th
anniversary, but lottery officials say
that they have also hit a record number
of sales. Officials say that total sales
in the fiscal year that ended June 30th
were up more than $240 million from the
year before. That is more than a 2%
increase over the previous year and has
set a lottery record.
They say that they will be giving $71
million to the state which is the
highest transfer ever in their 20 year
history. Lottery officials think it has
a lot to do with the games that they are
offering this year. They have added more
than 100 instant games, and they have
been received well.
They also think that their $200,000
Celebration that people could buy for
$20 a ticket did a lot to boost sales as
well. They have two new versions of
their $20 Electronic Game Card to add to
that. They say that their online games
brought in quite a bit on their side as
well.
Hot Lotto and Kansas Hold’em were both
offered starting this year, and both
brought in a lot of money just by
themselves. Their Veterans Benefit games
did much to boost sales, they were
$913,138 this year, up from $717,851
last year. The money from those games
goes to Kansas Veterans’ programs and
National Guard Scholarships.
In fact, the lottery thinks that they
only thing that did not perform well
this year was Powerball. Sales were down
more than 27% from the previous year,
and they say that without the large
jackpots all of the states that offered
it were hurt.
