Europe’s Top 5 List
The most
popular poker magazine in Europe, Bluff
Poker, is releasing its top five poker
places to play list. They do this
annually, and each year cities wait to
see where they will end up on the list.
This year London took the top spot, with
Dublin, Tallinn, Barcelona, and Monte
Carlo coming in the order listed to fill
out the top five.
The magazine said that London won the
top spot because there was no other
place like it. They said that they have
made London the perfect place to play
poker, and no matter when you want to
play you can find a game. They say that
the city has embraced the game and then
some, so they now have multiple venues
to play it. They said that no matter
what type of poker game you are looking
for, you will find it there.
Dublin was a close second with theirs
having a history of bringing Texas
Hold’em to Ireland. The story goes that
Terry Rogers walked into a casino in Las
Vegas in 1979 and walked out with the
game. He launched the Irish Open, which
is the longest running poker tournament
outside of the World Series. They have
longevity, and aren’t going anywhere
fast.
Tallinn in Estonia has the hungriest
poker players. There are not many places
to play poker in Scandinavia, so people
drive to Tallinn to play. It has become
a poker Mecca among those who love to
play. Barcelona took number four, simply
because it has long held the distinction
of being the center of poker in Spain.
They are always a big place to go on
every European’s poker calendar, and now
the tour will be stopping at Casino
Barcelona.
Monte Carlo rounds out the top five,
which is funny because many people
assumed that Monte Carlo would actually
be number one considering the number of
casinos they have. However, Monte Carlo
just started holding poker tournaments a
couple of years ago, and players will
still have a hard time finding a game
when the tournament is not in town.
However, the EPT Grand Final stops there
and that is what puts it on the list.
