D'Amato & Wexler Fighting UIGEA in Vegas

If you want people to help you fight a law that restricts the amount of gambling that you can do, where are you going to go for support? Well, if you are former Senator Alfonse D’Amato and Representative Robert Wexler, you are going to go to Las Vegas to get your support.

What if you want support to overturn the ban on poker as well? Well, again you are going to head to Vegas, but you are going to go during the World Series of Poker, because there is no better time to hit a crowd of poker enthusiasts.

D’Amato and Wexler went to the WSOP to urge poker players to write and call their Senators and Congressmen to get them to help them repeal the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. They pointed out that people can play the horses online, but they can’t play poker, which is clearly the same idea.

The two gentlemen spent the entire day talking to poker players trying to get support for the repeal of the bill, and they seemed to hit it off with everyone there. Every time they gave a speech regarding the overturning of the UIGEA the crowd roared its approval.

I think it is safe to say that our government will be getting some calls and letters, perhaps a few hundred thousand, in support of the appeal. Most say that if they aren’t going to allow online poker playing, then they want the horses banned from online wagering as well.
