Machine Revenues Down in France
According
to casino operator Groupe Partouche,
their net profit dropped 64.9% because
of the new casino laws that have been
passed in France. They say that their
slot machine sales plummeted after
French Casino entry regulations were
passed.
The group says that they do not expect
things to pick up any time soon, and are
predicting that the second half of the
year will take a downward turn as well.
They said that they are looking into
taking minority stakes in foreign groups
to try and build up their bottom line.
Societe Generale analysts said that they
had been waiting for the slot machine
revenue to drop, especially since the
market had anticipated it – which led to
a steep correction in Partouche’s
shares. The correction had them down 15%
since the first of this year.
Partouche said that in order to turn
things around they were looking to do a
slot machine renewal program where they
would design their slot machines around
new regulations. The new slot machines
would be able to accept bank notes, as
requested. They are also looking at
getting into creating poker rooms, which
they think will bring in more clients as
well.
