Mountaineer Job Fair
The
Mountaineer Race Track and Gaming Resort
held its first job fair since table
games were passed in West Virginia. The
fair was held on Monday at the track,
and more than 400 people chose to attend
the event. By 4 pm, they had seen
hundreds of resumes and applications
from people applying for a variety of
positions.
Their public relations director, Tamara
Cronin said that they are going to need
more than just dealers, so it is good
that they have had as many people apply
as they have, for the different
positions that they will have to offer.
Since voters approved the table games at
Mountaineer on June 30th, the track has
been busy at work preparing for the
impending table game addition.
They are going to need 442 dealers and
operators total, and they have about 140
signed up already. They will have 90
casino style games, with at least half
of those going to poker. Cronin said the
other half will end up as blackjack,
roulette, craps and baccarat.
There were other departments represented
in addition to the gaming one, as they
will need more employees in their
marketing, security, food and beverage,
and service areas as well. Cronin said
she was not surprised at the number of
people who showed up, thought it was
representative of the number of jobs
that are needed in the county.
Cronin said that there is obviously a
big need for jobs in Hancock County, and
the number of applicants just solidified
what a great choice voters made in
making the table games legal. They said
that they will be holding more job fairs
as well as this one.
