Machine Testers Get New Lab
Travis
Foley is the Chief of the State Gaming
Control Board’s Technology Division, and
he has a job unlike many others – he
tests slot machines. His job is to
ensure that every slot machine that
comes through their doors is completely
tested as well as all gaming technology
– which includes marketing and
accounting systems for slot machines.
Foley and his team have just gotten a
bigger and better space to do their slot
machine testing, and it is right by the
McCarran International Airport. It is
three times he size of their old one,
and it has plenty of room to do all the
slot machine testing that Foley and his
team need to do.
The old space left them literally
sitting on top of one another, tripping
over each other with cords and testing
equipment, and now they are organized
and everything has its place. With the
new space they are able to higher more
people to do the slot machine testing,
which is terrific for the team, because
more people means more turnaround. The
process takes months as it is, but with
more people it will take less time for
each slot machine to start the testing
process.
Foley says that they take a few months
for testing the slot machines, and about
a month for new game titles. He says
that the testing for accounting systems
is taking much less time, and that their
setup time is faster as well. He says
that with the power set up the way it is
in the new building there won’t be any
problems with hooking up slot machines
the way there used to be.
