Casino
Plans Filed
Ashley
Development has filed the plans for its
$300 million Martin Tower project, and
the Sands BethWorks has filed plans for
their $600 million casino project – it
seems like it must be money day in
Bethlehem.
Mayor John Callahan was excited to
report the filing of the plans, as this
brings them one step closer to slot
machine revenue in their fair city. He
said that these projects are going to
have a huge impact on the future of
Bethlehem, and the fact that they filed
within 24 hours of each other makes it a
banner day for them.
Ashley Development’s tower is going to
have 200 condominiums, with more than
600 townhouse apartments and six pocket
parks. Sands BethWorks is going to have
3,000 slot machines, a 12 story hotel,
retail shops, restaurants, and an event
center that can hold 3,500 concert
goers. It will also have more than 5,000
parking spaces to put all of these
people that are coming for the slot
machines or otherwise.
The casino will be bringing in more than
just slot machine revenue, however, it
will also be bringing in 1,700 new jobs
to the area, something local residents
are very excited about. Both sets of
plans have to be reviewed and approved
by the Bethlehem Planning Commission,
and Martin Tower will be discussed at
their regular meeting on August 16th.
The Commission will be calling a special
meeting to discuss the slot machine
casino’s plans.
