Table
Games Are Worse Than Sin
Some are
taking the stance that table games are a
sin, pure and simple, and the addition
of them to the Kanawha County race track
would be perpetrating the sin that
started when they brought in slot
machines. However, some think that the
fact that the Bible says it is a sin is
really of no consequence to many others
who are also against the games.
They think that the ones hollering about
sin, might want to try a different
tactic. They believe that people across
the board will want to veto the games –
liberals, independents, moderates and
conservatives alike, will all veto the
measure. They say that it is money and
politicians that are pushing these
through and the churches might want to
get on the bandwagon of a different tune
before it is too late.
By hawking that it is a “sin” they are
putting people’s backs up saying that
someone else’s morality should not be
shoved down their throats. However, even
the idea that gambling addiction will be
increased is a far more powerful
argument to many people. The games will
take those people who just cannot help
themselves and take all of their money,
while stripping them of their dignity at
the same time.
Not only that, but the casinos are
always ripe with corruption. Any kind of
increase in gambling is only asking for
trouble with a capital T. They say that
the way the games are being pushed at
everyone it already smells of political
corruption, and expanding gambling will
only increase that. And while they are
increasing political corruption, they
will also be increasing domestic
violence, child abuse, drugs, violence,
prostitution, etc.
