Tribe Needs State’s Help

New York State currently receives millions of dollars from the Seneca Gaming Corporation, which runs the Seneca Niagara Casino and Hotel. They really need to do very little to earn that money, besides allowing the tribe the exclusive right to have those slot machines. The tribe says that is not enough however.

They are calling on the governor and the state legislature to step up and assist them in helping them get their casino in Buffalo. They say that the citizens’ action groups that are coming after them could be stopped if they had some help.

They say that the group has been trying to bring an injunction against them to stop the downtown construction, but they say that they have already gotten approval for the slot machine casino and they have purchased the land perfectly legally. They want Governor Spitzer to step up since the state as so much to benefit from it.

The tribe is calling on the governor to earn some of the money that they feel they are getting for doing next to nothing. They also think that the government is spending very little to boost tourism on their side of the falls, and say that the amount of tourism that the Ontario side is doing is just an “embarrassment” to the state.

They want the government to take more of their share of the money and give it back to the local government. They currently give away 25% and keep 75% - and the tribe would like to see them give more.
