Slot Machines Doing Well in
Jersey
It would seem that the state of New
Jersey is doing very well with the slot
machines that they have at their horse
racing tracks. They brought them in to
both help out the state’s budgets and
the tracks, and they have done
everything that they hoped that they
would do. They had seen how successful
other states were that had added slot
machines to their tracks and decided to
follow suit.
They have managed to help out the tracks
and they are able to start offering
larger purses and bring in the better
horses since the slot machines came to
town. The slot machines have brought in
more than $2.74 billion since they
started and that revenue has been shared
among several racetrack owners and
horsemen.
The tracks that have the slot machines
are The Meadowlands, Freehold Raceway,
Monmouth Park Racetrack and the Atlantic
City Race Course. With so many other
tracks bringing in the slot machines it
was a good move for the state to bring
them in as well.
They have found that they are making
money off of both the off track and
internet wagering, and that their Purse
Enhancement Agreements are maintaining
the purse structure at the Meadowlands.
This past year New Jersey was still
behind both New York and Pennsylvania in
the horse racing purses, but many expect
that to change this year. They have
already seen a 118% increase over their
revenues from the previous year without
the slot machines.
