People Play
Slot Machines Because They Love the Rush
For anyone who did not
realize it, a recent study has shown
that people gamble at slot machines
because they love it. That’s right –
because they love playing. Now this
might seem like an incredibly boring
piece of news, but psychologists say
that there is much more to the slot
machine than what originally meets the
eye.
Slot machines get played not just
because people win, but because there is
the promise of winning. The average slot
machine is set up so that the player
thinks that they are going to win – but
they don’t. It is a tease, and the
player gets a rush each time they come
close to winning the game.
Most people say that slot machine
players are crazy to play it at all,
because those people that do play don’t
win – until someone wins really big. So
is there a promise of a return on your
money – yes, but very few people
actually see it pay off. The slot
machines will pay off ninety cents on
the dollar but normally that is to
someone else.
The games are set up so that you
constantly think you are going to win,
and thus it keeps you playing. Slot
machine players get addicted to that
rush, and they think that they are going
to win so they keep coming back for
more. It doesn’t matter where they play
them, all slot machines are set up the
same so that they will keep pulling in
the player who doesn’t realize that he
is the one being played.
