Illegal Slot Machines Not the Issue
There has
been a push to get rid of the illegal
slot machines that were located in
Indiana. They have a task force assigned
to the issue and they say that there
could be literally thousands upon
thousands of slot machines operating
illegally in the state.
However, no one can seem to find them.
With the Republicans in the Legislature
pushing to get slot machines legalized
at two central Indiana horse racing
tracks, many wondered just how much
gambling Indiana could handle. It seems
that the legislature thinks more than
they have already.
By bringing in the slot machines to the
tracks they say that they are simply
regulating and taking care of the
industry – while searching and removing
the illegal slot machines which are the
real blight on the state. However,
again, those slot machines are not
available yet.
With Indiana already having such large
numbers in gambling between the lottery
and instant cards – many argue that the
slot machines would simply just be too
much for the state’s residents to
handle. But this does not seem to deter
the government at all.
So now the tracks are looking to bring
in 4,000 slot machines between the two
of them, and yet those thousands of
illegal slot machines have not been
found. As a matter of fact, according to
the state’s new gaming control division,
they have only found about 760 illegal
slot machines. They maintain that
roughly 2,000 of them were shipped out
of state.
