888 Holdings Doing Well
The
online gambling company 888 Holdings PLC
reported that they were doing well with
their non US business holdings. The
company was one of those that was
affected by the passing of the Unlawful
Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA)
last October, so many were concerned
with how they might be doing. They also
spoke of a possible expansion, and
mentioned that they did not know any
details about a possible takeover by
Ladbrokes.
It has been hotly discussed since last
year over whether or not Ladbrokes will
continue to pursue the company in light
of the new bill and the fact that the
FBI has arrested the co-founders of
Neteller. If Ladbrokes takes over 888,
they will come under federal scrutiny,
so they want to make sure that they are
completely covered and shielded by any
criminal liabilities that might be
forthcoming against 888.
There is a possibility that Ladbrokes
might consider pulling out of the deal,
and they say that if it happens then
there will be other companies to work
out deals with. PartyGaming has shown an
interest in purchasing the company, but
888’s shareholders are not pushing for a
buyer right now. They say that if
Ladbrokes works out then that will be
great, but they are not looking to
settle for just anything. They say that
the company is performing very well
right now, so they are content to sit
and wait to see what will happen.
However, they are quick to point out
that talks on both sides are continuing,
so there is an interest on both parts to
see if they can work something out. They
say that although the company was
affected by the US rulings, there is
also the fact that they then looked to
find other markets and venues to pursue
and having done that are back in a
really good place again.
