How to Play Blackjack

Many see the game of Blackjack as this sort of mystical kind of card game that only few play well. This is certainly not the case, as with any skill based game it takes a certain amount of knowledge as well as skill to play it. Blackjack is almost always one of the most popular table games in casinos and that is because it really takes a very basic knowledge of the game to play, and it takes practice to get good.

Blackjack, which is also referred to as “21” is popular both online and in land based casinos, with its basic rules and regulations. It initially was not a popular game, so online casinos started offering bonuses for playing, and did not earn the name Blackjack until that time. The bonuses had to do with getting any black jack, a club or a spade, so that the name stuck.

The basic premise of the game is that every player gets two cards. Whoever ends up with the highest number of points with their cards without going over the limit of 21 is the winner. The cards are dealt, and then in order each player is offered more cards. The idea is to get as close to 21 as you can without going over it. Each card is worth the face value of the card with numbers two through ten. Each face card is worth ten points, and each ace is worth either one or eleven, it is up to the player.

Once you go over 21 however, you have lost, even if the dealer goes over 21 as well. If you and the dealer end up with the same number of points it is a “push” and no one wins. Whoever has the highest number of points at the end without going over the 21 mark is the winner, so you can see it really is about practice.
