Clinton Casino Moving Forward
Wild
Rose Entertainment is spending somewhere
around $32 million to build a new slot
machine casino resort in Clinton, Iowa.
The company has just made a deal to
purchase 28.6 acres of land in the
Eastern part of the state, which will
make it the ideal location to place
their slot machine casino. The area is
surrounded by stores and restaurants,
making it a vacation destination instead
of just slot machines.
The company is using this casino to
replace the Mississippi Belle II which
is a riverboat casino that the company
bought last year. Now that they have the
land they want, they are going to break
ground in the spring as the ground is
too hard right now to be worked on. The
company said they cannot wait to get
started, but that this year’s weather
has made it difficult to make any
headway.
The new casino will have 650 slot
machines and 20 table games, as well as
restaurants, a hotel, and a conference
center. It will also enable the closing
of the riverboat casino so that the town
can use the riverfront for something
else. The company feels that the new
casino will make them more competitive
having one on land – as opposed to the
old one.
The company is one in a long line of
businesses that have been trying to do
something with the old casino to make it
cost effective; Wild Rose purchased it
for $46.3 million with the plan of just
tearing it down and building another one
in a different location.
