Poker Abounds
Even
with the US crackdown on online slot
machines and poker playing, there are
more sites popping up daily that poker
players would love. However, if you live
in the United States you cannot legally
play them. Over the past few weeks, just
as laws have been getting stricter and
stricter – the number of sites has
expanded drastically.
Playboy Gaming is one of the biggest as
of late, and many were saddened to learn
that they could not actually play on the
site legally. Some say the fact that
Playboy is willing to start their own
site just shows that eventually all of
this will turn around and online slot
machines and poker will be legal again.
They say that big names like them are
just proof that the day is coming.
GNUF.com is another large group that has
built a reputation of a successful
online gambling – they tout themselves
as a mix of MySpace and Vegas. People
can play the slot machines or poker
games, upload photos, blog, debate other
customers, etc. all from the same site.
Virgin Games has gotten into the mix
with their online gambling site being
brought from the same people who brought
you music and airlines – all with major
successes. The site was launched Super
Bowl week in a cross marketing move that
put the other sites to shame. They
already have more than 5000 players and
the site hasn’t even been up for three
months yet.
Many of the sites can only be played by
non US residents, but one site –
PokerStars – has left itself open to US
residents so that they can play. It has
become the largest poker room in the
world, with more than 20,000 money
playing customers at its peak times. The
site was only doing about half of that
business before the UIGEA was passed.
