Table Games Bring Younger Crowd
With
SugarHouse and Foxwoods winning the slot
machine licenses for Philadelphia, many
are wondering how they are going to meet
the expectations that they and the state
have put on them. For starters, where
are the table games? With Atlantic City
only about an hour away, many are going
to make the trip instead of staying in
their own backyard where all they have
to offer is slot machines.
The area that the new casinos are going
into is traffic plagued, and many are
concerned that it is going to be
completely unmanageable once the casinos
are up and running as well. This is
another reason to make the drive to AC,
where traffic is an issue that is dealt
with.
Many other casinos have table games, and
those casinos are located in areas where
they have made lots of money. The draw
is not just the slot machines, although
they are casinos’ biggest money makers –
the draw is the tables. This isn’t even
taking into consideration who you want
your clientele to be.
Table games bring in younger players;
players who have a lot of money. Slot
machines traditionally bring in your
older players who don’t have a lot to
lose. These players will come for the
table games, and they will spend their
money at them, as well as other things
at the casinos. However, without table
games, Pennsylvania is only giving their
clients slot machines to play, which in
the long run means less income and
revenue.
There is more at stake here than just
some slot machines; the whole city is at
risk. If the casinos are able to bring
people into their slot machines in
droves, then they will be successful and
so will the city. However, if people
continue to go to Atlantic City to
gamble then the draw will not be there
and the city will suffer the
consequences.
