Frills Means More Money for State
It is
interesting to see where people like to
play their slot machines. There are
those that like to go to the places that
have all the bells and whistles, and are
pretty to look at. Then there are those
that don’t look for any of that, they
just want a place to play their slot
machines and nothing else.
For those that want the perks, there are
places like Foxwoods and the Mohegan
Sun, or even Atlantic City and all their
glitz and glamour. However, for those
that don’t, there are slot machine
parlors – many of which are simply
glorified holes in the wall. Not only
are they not the glamorous slot machine
parlors, but they are bringing in more
money than anyone would have dared
dreamed that they would.
Pennsylvania has tons of these slot
machine parlors, and they have brought
in more than $900 million in cash for
the state. Now Massachusetts Treasurer
Timothy Cahill and House Speaker Robert
DeLeo think that it is time their state
got a little of that. They see that the
Pennsylvania model is simple – take a
business, add a ton of slot machines,
and open the doors for people to play.
It really is that simple.
Not only do these slot machines bring in
millions of dollars for the state, but
they also bring in thousands of jobs. In
Pennsylvania they have provided more
than six thousand jobs – which makes it
well worth looking into especially when
so many people are out of work. The
state says that if Pennsylvania can do
it, and do it so well, there is no
reason why they can’t do it too.
