Machine Thief
It goes
without saying that you don’t take
something that is not yours. This is a
concept that is pretty universal, and
yet some people still have a hard time
with that. When it comes to slot
machines the rule is the same as it is
anywhere else – only a bit more
specific. You don’t take a cash ticket
from any one else’s slot machine –
simply because it is not yours.
However, every now and then you see
someone coming along and trying to
pilfer someone else’s winning by taking
their ticket out of their slot machine.
Some people leave the ticket in the slot
machine as a show that they are still
using the machine while they go to the
rest room or such.
Whether you want the slot machine or
not, you don’t take their ticket; you
simply see if you can find another
machine. If there are no others around
and you have to have that slot machine
you can take the ticket out and put it
on top for the person when they return,
but you cannot take it and pretend that
it is yours as this is illegal.
A Shreveport man thought that he could
get away with it, but was caught and
arrested. He took a $290 cash ticket
from a slot machine at the downtown
casino Sam’s Town Casino and was
arrested for doing so. The casino had
video surveillance and caught him red
handed taking the ticket out of the slot
machine. He was taken to the City Jail
and booked with misdemeanor theft.
