Could Be Looking at Less Revenue
The
Great Canadian Gaming Corporation has a
very real worry – they are afraid of
losing money at their Halifax casino, and the
fact of the matter is that they are
probably going to. The Halifax casino has 655 slot machines, as well
as gaming tables and a hotel. However, a
new casino, Casino New Brunswick, is opening
their doors and they are going to have
600 slot machines as well as table games
and a hotel and convention center. Great
Canadian is worried because of the
location.
They
say that they currently have a lot of
slot machine customers who live nearer
to that other casino than they do to
them. They know that these players are
going to play at the slot machines that
are closer to them rather than traveling
further away. It is just common sense.
But they know that there is going to be
an impact on their bottom line. They say
that they are going to have to change
the way that they have been operating to
compete with them, and they are prepared
to do so.
They
have other slot machines and casinos,
but they are just aware that last year
was a tough year because of the economy,
and now this year they are going to have
to deal with the economy and another
casino. Their financials show that they
brought in $43.2 million in 2009 as
opposed to the $46.3 they brought in
back in 2008.
The
company said that they have already made
some changes because of the decrease
they saw in revenue from last year, so
they have been working toward
streamlining their operations. They are
already on the road to fixing it, so now
with this new slot machine competition
they are going to have to take other
steps to ensure that they are prepared
for the worst.
