Is Maryland Putting the
Cart Before the Horse?
The
state of Maryland keeps coming up with
ways of increasing the amount of
gambling that they have in the state,
and yet they can’t seem to get the
gambling they have already approved up
and running. The state’s legislators are
constantly inundating each other with
more bills because each of them has a
better idea of what they should do to
add more gambling. However, residents
are more concerned with the fact that
the slot machines still haven’t made an
appearance and yet there is more
gambling coming?
There
are many residents that don’t want to
see any kind of expanded gambling since
they feel like it takes away from the
focus that should be on bringing in the
slot machines. However, senators are
looking at amending a bill that would
bring in card games to one racetrack
just so they can bring them into several
other locations as well. This gambling
expansion is an attempt by the state to
make even more money off of the table
games.
There
is also legislation that would allow
slot machines to go in veterans groups,
and another bill that would allow the
airport to have them as well. There is a
bill just to allow table games at any
location that has slot machines, and
another one that limits them to certain
locations. Needless to say, residents
are feeling overwhelmed by all of the
bills that are coming through and many
just want to know when they can play at
the original slot machines.
