Illegal Slot
Machines Risk Everything
According to the Oklahoma City Police,
people just don’t realize what they are
giving up when they decide to offer slot
machines. They have found that there are
many bars and lottery establishments
have gotten the bright idea of offering
slot machines to their patrons – but
illegally. Instead of playing it safe
and keeping whatever vices they are
already legally allowed to offer, they
decide to risk it all.
Police say that those people who decide
to offer slot machines are not just
giving up the machines when they are
raided – they are giving up a lot more
than that. They will lose the illegal
slot machines when the police come in,
but they can also lose their liquor
licenses, their lottery licenses, etc. –
the things that make them money legally.
If they offer illegal slot machines they
could end up without anything to make
money at all – in addition to fines and
jail time.
Police said this week alone they busted
four convenience stores for offering
illegal slot machines. The Roadway on
Reno, Lee Stop to Shop on
Robinson,
May Avenue Food
Plaza on May, and Speedy
Food Mart on Southeast 15th
were all accused of offering illegal
slot machines. Each of the owners or
managers that were present at the times
of the raids were given citations for
possession of gambling paraphernalia.
When they were done, a total of fourteen
slot machines were seized in their
efforts.
Police say that they don’t want to take
these people to jail, they just want the
illegal slot machines to not be offered.
They also said that they don’t want to
ruin them financially, but under the law
they could be risking everything that
they have to give clients these illegal
slot machines. They encourage them to
act smarter and to not break the law
before it does them real damage.
