Illinois Does Not Need More Slot Machines 

Ask anyone in Illinois how they feel about expanding slot machines and you will get some very different answers. There are those that are 100% for it and say that it is a great way to bring in additional revenue for the state. Then there are those that are 100% against it as they say that it will bring about nothing but trouble. And then there are those that are on the fence and don’t really know what to think. 

The anti slot machine forces are hoping to win over the majority of those people to their side when it comes down to deciding one way or the other about expanding slot machines. They are hoping that by using reason and cunning that they will be able to convince the undecided’s that more slot machines are not the way to go, and that they are only inviting trouble into their state. 

They have some very good reasons for not wanting more slot machines in their state, and they will probably be very convincing when turning people to their side. They point out that a budget should never be based on slot machines or any kind of gambling money. They point out that Atlantic City did just that, and now that their slot machine numbers are down, they are scrambling to pay the bills. You cannot predict how much people are going to gamble today, next week, or next year. 

They also said that the more slot machines that you bring in does not necessarily mean more money. The money still has to come from somewhere, and that usually means the state’s residents. If they are not bringing in more money now, what on earth makes them think that they will bring in millions more by adding more slot machines? They think that the amount of gambling and slot machines that they have now are more than enough.
