Justice is Not
Cheap
The
state of Alabama might want to
rethink their position on slot machines.
It would appear that they are spending
so much time trying to figure out
whether or not slot machines are legal
that they have already spend more than a
half of a million dollars on their legal
defense. This is a lot of money for any
state to spend on defenses, but
especially since it is their own state
that they are fighting against.
The
administration maintains that it is a
wash really because they say that
although they have spent that much on
keeping slot machines illegal, they have
also seized $1.3 million from those same
illegal slot machines. The task force
says that they have worked hard for the
past year and a half to eliminate slot
machines from the state and that they
are finally starting to be very
successful in eliminating them.
Their
task force leader – John Tyson – says
that he is not even getting any
financial compensation for leading the
group that is making the state a better
place. The residents of the state though
wonder why they are spending so much
money keeping slot machines illegal when
they could really be gaining money
instead. They said that the state could
be bringing in several times that amount
of money if they would just regulate and
legalize the slot machines instead of
working so hard to eliminate them.
Those
that wonder whether online slot machines
are in the state’s future should
probably keep wondering. If the state is
spending that much money trying to get
rid of the ones they have, why on earth
would they allow more to come in?
