Looking at Atlantic City
Hard
Rock International is considering
bringing their slot machines to town – Atlantic City’s town that is. They have been
looking into building a casino hotel in
Atlantic City
after New Jersey Senator Jim Whelan
introduced new legislation. This new
legislation would allow for smaller
casinos with less than 20,000 square
feet to come in. They must have less
than 200 rooms, and they must have the
ability to expand if need be. Whelan
thinks that they will get more companies
looking to come in if they are not
required to build such a large hotel and
casino – like the ones that they are
currently required to build.
Hard
Rock says that they would first spend
about $300 million to build the first
phase of the casino. This does not
include the land that they would have to
purchase. They would put the casino at
the corner of
Albany Avenue
and the Boardwalk. They said that the
new legislation makes it a much more
attractive place to bring slot machines
to because it would be much easier for a
smaller casino company to compete. Right
now they say that it is just not
possible for them to take on something
like that.
They
said that they are excited by the idea
of being in the country’s second largest
gambling hot spot, and that they know
that there are a lot of casinos having
problems right now but they think that
this is going to change. They think that
they could do very well there.
