North Carolina Cracking Down on Online Slot Machine Games 

There is a fight going on in North Carolina as to whether or not slot machines are legal. The sheriff of Hickory says that the games are slot machines and that they are illegal. However, judges in Wake and Guilford Counties say that there is no clear distinction as to whether or not the games are slot machines and therefore gave them the ability to continue operating until the state says whether they are legal or not.  

The Assistant District Attorney was not getting involved, and did not have an opinion to add, which means the fight is continuing between the state and the sweepstakes parlors. Many say that these games are simply replacing the video poker games that the state made these places get rid of last year. The law states that the games are illegal, but there are those that say that the slot machines do not fit into the description by the state as to what constitutes an illegal game.  

The sheriff said that these parlors are running illegal slot machines and a variety of games on them and that it has to stop. They say that so many of these slot machine games have popped up it is ridiculous. The slot machines are going down the same path – a path that they should not be going down. The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office is just giving them fair warning considering that there was just a big raid in Burke County where the slot machines were seized as was the cash that was being used in the gaming.
