Slot Machines Bring in Revenue 

The fact of the matter is no matter what casino you are in, the slot machines bring in the majority of their revenue. The states know this, which is why there is such a big push for slot machines across many of them. Those that already have slot machines are looking to add more, and many of those that don’t have them yet are looking to bring them in. Many states see that perhaps their neighboring state has slot machines and they know that their residents are going across state lines to play them. They simply want to add slot machines to their offerings so that those residents spend their money in state instead of out of state. 

Minnesota is simply the latest state to take on the addition of slot machines. They are now looking at legislation that would allow the state to bring in slot machines at their horse racing tracks. They believe that if they allow slot machines to come in that they will be looking at an additional $125 million a year in revenue for the state. They said that this money could be used for a variety of programs such as early childhood education and rural development. Of course there are also those that would like to see the money going toward a new stadium for their Vikings – but who knows if that will happen or not.  

The state already allows slot machines at their Native American reservations, so this is not like it is something new to the state, although some are against the expanded gambling. They think that the amount of gambling that is currently in the state is more than enough, and don’t feel a need to add more. However, legislators point out that the amount of revenue would be a large enough amount that it would be worth checking out, and all of it would come to them instead of being split between the tribe and the state. 

The proposed bill still needs work as many of them are quick to point out – but with there being such a dire need for more money in the state, they think that there is a good chance that a slightly modified version of that bill just might pass.
