Victoryland is
Open Again
Well,
it appears that Victoryland has opened
their doors again, and they are
maintaining that their slot machines are
legal. They re-opened their doors Friday
night and the Rev. Jesse Jackson was
there to show his support. But what was
he showing his support for? The illegal
slot machines? The gambling? Sometimes
it simply depends on how you look at a
situation.
Jackson
was there to show that the doors were
open and that the machines in question
were not slot machines yet they were
legal electronic bingo machines. The
only problem is that electronic bingo
games are illegal in
Alabama. So
again, what was he there to support?
Most
people are waiting to see if the Task
Force will raid them again and shut them
down upon finding slot machines. The
business has 6,400 slot machines on the
premises and they were able to open
their doors again after having closed
them on February 4th. Circuit
Judge Tom Young ruled that the task
force did not have any authority in
their county, and the slot machines were
back open for business right afterwards.
But
the task force said that they are
continuing on the way that they have
been. They said that they are going to
deal with it, and with the corruption
that comes along with it. They said that
this is the very thing that they are
fighting against, and that the laws in
the state of
Alabama
are to be followed by everyone, not just
a select few. They said that they are
trying to “cripple law enforcement” and
allow illegal slot machines and casinos
in
Alabama-
and they are “not going to tolerate it.”
It was
amazing how many of the patrons sided
with the illegal slot machines and
wanted the governor impeached because he
was enforcing the law.
