Judge
Arrested in Illegal Casino
Sheriffs
found more than just illegal slot
machines and poker tables at the Poker
Palace last week; they also found a
magistrate judge. The judge, identified
as Dorian Murry, was inside the
establishment when it was busted –
allegedly playing the slot machines and
poker games. Murry was taken to Clayton
County Sheriff’s office, where he faced
the judge the next morning.
Murry’s bail was set at $2,500 and as of
Wednesday afternoon he was still in the
county jail. However, he was not the
only one having problems. There were 52
people arrested and charged with
misdemeanors, and one of the owners was
charged with two counts of felonies. The
sheriff’s office also said that in
addition to the slot machines and poker
tables, they also found various drugs
such as cocaine and ecstasy.
One other person decided to make things
a little worse for himself when he tried
to bribe the sheriff. Sheriff Hill said
that Mike Adams, the owner of the Poker
Palace, met the sheriff for lunch. He
brought along a friend of his, a Norman
Earl, who offered him the bribe.
Initially it was $500, but over the
course of the meeting Earl increased it
to $5,000.
Earl was charged with attempting to
bribe the sheriff and Adams is being
investigated as he was there when the
bribe was offered. The sheriff said he
is also looking into the fact that the
bribe was made just before the slot
machine and poker casino was busted, and
that he hoped that it was just a
coincidence.
