Today’s Table Games

The table games business is a tough one, only because it isn’t like anyone is really creating any new games. People like poker, and you can keep coming up with different themes on the game, but it is still poker - so most companies don’t do very well in the arena.

Shuffle Master used to be the top dog when it came to table games, as they were the only ones making any money at it. However, even they are having problems now. There has been talk of accounting problems, and rumors of alleged internal problems, but no one knows for sure what is going on with them other than, well, them.

There is some competition in the area only because everyone is trying for a piece of a non-existent pie, but that could change. Every now and then a truly innovative game comes along and changes everything, and this year Spin N Win seems to have a small chance of that. It is simple enough that it might catch on, but competition wise it will probably fail.

Electronic table games have a tendency to fair a little better, with each of the major companies coming up with some great ideas. Aristocrat has a dealer-less Roulette game that could be very popular, and PokerTek has PokerPro, which is already showing to be very positive in feedback.
