Questions of the PGCB Arise
There are
some wondering what sort of deal the
Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has
going on with the slot machines that are
in the state. There have been references
to “rigged slot machines” ever since
there was a letter to the paper
regarding such machines.
There was a column in one of the local
papers were the journalist referenced
the idea that slot machines could be
rigged – in regards to “miraculous
jackpots won by select legislators.” The
author then got a letter from the PGCB
where they denied such accusations.
Michael Cruz, director of the PGCB
gaming lab operations, said that there
is ''rigorous slot machine testing by
highly skilled staff in the Gaming
Control Board gaming lab.'' Cruz stated
that there is no way that the machines
are rigged.
However, Roger Horbay of Elora, Ontario
was quick to come to the rescue. He
stated that no matter what Cruz said,
the possibility was there for it to
happen. He said that “payback
percentages and randomness are not the
only criteria for fair and honest
games.”
He says that in most games players
understand the odds, but with slot
machines there are all kinds of
deceptions going on. He alleged that the
PGCB allows it under their laws, even
though most other consumer protection
laws do not.
