Slot Machine Jackpot Isn't

Deborah Fisher felt on top of the world. She was playing the slot machines at the Harrington Raceway & Casino on Thursday when she hit the jackpot. She had literally put in her last $5 when the slot machine rang and showed a win of $506,594.36.

Needless to say Fisher was thrilled. The casino employees took her picture, even posing with her for photos. Her 35 year old daughter Angela Gerst was with her, and she was jumping up and down for joy – they just couldn’t believe their good luck!

Fisher started thinking about all the great things she could do with the money – new dentures, fix up her house – there were many things that desperately needed to get done and now she had the money to do it. But then a manager approached and everything changed.

They told Fisher to take a seat while they went to talk. Fisher got bored and took out an extra $40 and started playing another slot machine. She saw them working on the machine that she had won on, and then two and a half hours later they came over and told her that there had been a mistake, and that no, she was not a winner.

They offered her $10 for her trouble, but told her she would not be winning the jackpot. The win is being investigated, as the casino claims the largest the win could have been was $10,000 on that particular slot machine, and the way Fisher was playing she would have gotten only $8.

Fisher’s daughter was upset to see the disappointment on her mom’s face. For her part, her mom said she’s not angry but she is upset. She has been coming to the casino every week for four years, which is a lot of money put into that casino. She has met with a lawyer, and they are deciding what to do.
