Hollywood Slot Machines Doing Well
In this
recession, the casinos have seen their
slot machine revenues drop across the
board. They say that as people are
choosing not to gamble, or if they are
gambling, they are doing it online, they
cannot produce the numbers that they
used to in terms of slot machine
revenue. Everyone is feeling the pinch –
or at least it seemed that way.
The people of Maine have seen a
different thing go on as they have seen
their slot machines perform rather well.
The people of Maine have long tried to
keep slot machines out of their state as
they felt it was a bad idea. The
Hollywood Casino in Bangor is the only
casino in the state and others have
tried to come in since it did but to no
avail.
But even though they were against slot
machines coming into the state, it seems
that the people of Maine are not against
playing them. According to recent
reports, slot machine revenue for the
month of April is actually up – which is
not something that many casinos can
report. In fact, most casinos are saying
that their slot machine revenue is down.
Now they also have more slot machines
this year than they did last year. Last
year they had 475 slot machines, and
this year they have 1,000 slot machines
– so that explains the 17% increase from
one year to the next, but does not
explain the large increase from one
month to another. Needless to say the
slot machines aren’t getting much flack
these days.
