Where is the Money Going to Come From?

This is the question that Ohio lawmakers are asking themselves. The budget is facing a very real shortage and there is just no more money to pull to pay for many necessary programs. With the budget completely under funded they know that the money has to come from somewhere, but they are trying to figure out where.

They say that residents have pretty much stuck their heads in the sand and are refusing to see the dire situation for what it is. They don’t want to raise taxes and they don’t want to bring in slot machines or any form of gambling – which leaves them at a loss as to how to bring in extra money for their coffers.

They say that residents are going to have to give on one thing or the other. They suggest slot machines as they know that not only will they bring in millions of dollars for the state, but it is something that will only affect those that can afford to pay. If they raise taxes everyone will be affected and everyone will have to pay the increase.

However, slot machines will not only bring in money from those residents that choose to pay, but they will also bring in money from those that don’t live in the state. They could create slot machine casino destinations where people would travel to come to them and play, and they would bring in not just money for the slot machines but also for the travel industry. They say that it could easily be a win-win for everyone, but one way or the other, more money has to come into the state.
