Macau Feels Woman’s Fury
The Wynn
Macau is in the news again, and this
time it is not necessarily where they
want to be. The casino is allegedly
responsible for a woman losing a large
chunk of change, and she is demanding
retribution for her losses. Depending on
whom you believe it could turn out to be
a very interesting court case.
The woman, a businesswoman from the
Zhejiang province, has been playing the
slot machines at the Wynn Macau for two
years. They have always been more than
happy to take her money, but this time
something went wrong. Up until this
point, the woman has been very lucky at
the slot machines, and had favorites
that she liked to play.
This time however, when she came to play
she says that one of their employees
told her to play a specific slot machine
as it was “lucky” and would pay her out
well. However, she spent three days
playing the slot machine and at the end
of it she ended up down HK$13 million.
She left and came back to play the slot
machines for the Lunar New Year with her
friends. She was still losing but kept
playing, only leaving to go home and
renew her visa. After three months of
playing this particular slot machine she
was down HK$40 million. Noticeably
unhappy, she says that she was escorted
to her room and told to try her luck
again later.
When she went down the next morning she
decided to forego the losing slot
machine and her and her friends started
playing 20 slot machines in quick
succession. This she thought would get
her back her losses. However, the
manager came over and told her she could
not play more than two slot machines at
a time and told her and her friends that
they had to leave.
The woman is taking the matter to court,
asking for proper compensation and an
apology from the casino. She asked for
her betting and payout records but the
casino would only give her the payouts.
She has asked the government for
assistance in seeing justice served.
