Slot Machine Manufacturers’ Big Ideas

Nothing brings in more money to a casino than a slot machine. It is a fact that the casinos will see about 3/4ths of their revenue from the slot machines alone. With these figures in mind, it is no wonder that the slot machine manufacturers are constantly looking for ways to improve the machines and make their customers happy.

The newer slot machines have audio and visual features that have not been previously witnessed by the industry, with each manufacturer trying to outdo the others. WMS Gaming is one of those companies. They have new slot machines that they say Vegas has never even dreamed of. They are bringing in community style gaming, where if one person in a bank of slot machines wins, everyone at that same bank wins also. They figure that since slot machines are a “$10 billion a year market,” they would be idiots to pass up the opportunity to outdo their competitors. They also have two monopoly slot machine games that they are excited about, as well as a new version on the popular Tom Cruise game “Top Gun.”

RHW is planning on bringing in slot machines that have Bose surround sound, flat panel screens, etc., as well as server based gaming that allows the players to play against the slot machine and each other. The slot machine manufacturer knows that the games of yesterday are not the ones that players want today – and if they get what they want they will play even more. They think that the more interesting the game, the more interesting the casino will seem, and hence more slot machine and gambling revenue for the casinos.
