Foxwoods’ Slot Machines Performing Well
Foxwoods Resort
Casino has announced that they have just
had their best October ever in slot
machine revenue. Their slot machines
brought in 4.3% more than they did last
October. They have stepped up their
marketing efforts in an attempt to get
the slot machine increase out there. The
Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation said
they won $69.6 million of its $807
million handle.
“We had a strong
marketing effort in October, and that
drew large numbers of people to Foxwoods,
as did the opening of our new California
Pizza Kitchen,” Foxwoods President John
O'Brien said. “We're pleased with the
results and we think they bode well for
the coming months.”
They also had
several promotions that they were
running which helped with the slot
machine revenue as well.
Whereas on the
other end, the Mohegan Sun saw their
slot machine revenue drop 0.6%. They
said they won $74.3 million, down from
the $74.5 million a year ago. The handle
was $885.5 million. Mitchell Etess, the
slot machine casino’s president and CEO
said that they also had one Saturday
less than this time last year, which
will hurt their slot machine revenue as
well.
Foxwoods had 7,216
slot machines in play during the month
on average; while Mohegan Sun ran 6,197
slot machines. Foxwoods said the daily
win from the slot machines was $311.39 –
up from $289.75 last year. Mohegan Sun
saw $387.01 per slot machine, as opposed
to $388.80 in last year’s slot machine
numbers.
