One Slot Machine Hits, Everybody Wins
Slot
machine manufacturers are constantly
trying to keep their customers happy –
and they should. Slot machines are a
nine billion dollar industry annually in
Las Vegas alone. If clients start
getting bored with their slot machines,
they will start losing the majority of
their income. Last week at the
industry’s annual trade show, it was
obvious that the time to think outside
of the box had come.
Paul
Oneile, CEO of Aristocrat Technologies
said, "I think the whole industry has to
look at ways of making the industry more
interactive. I think there will be much
more communal playing -- it adds to the
overall excitement."
He of
course is talking about community
gambling, or communal slot machines.
Several people play in a bank of slot
machines and they are all playing to win
– as usual. However, this is different
from regular slot machines for these
people are playing to win for themselves
and everyone else. They are all working
toward one of their slot machines
hitting so that everyone can win – as
everyone shares in the profits.
"The
interest was incredible," said Ed Rogich,
VP of Marketing at International Gaming
Technologies. "The spectator value
really makes it a fun draw."
IGT
offers Indiana Jones themed multiplayer
slot machines, while WMS Industries is
offering the Monopoly Big Event Communal
Slot Product.
