Russians Vote Down Slot Machine
Regulation
The State Duma has chosen to vote down a
bill that would regulate slot machines
parlors and slot machine casinos. The
Russian parliament’s lower house buried
the bill which was going to immediately
eliminate slot machines and would move
slot machine and gambling casinos to
four areas of the country.
This does not mean that slot machines
and slot machine casinos will be able to
continue as they have been over the past
few years, there will be changes. There
will be regulations and related
legislation pertaining to the slot
machine industry, and there are many
other slot machine bills and regulations
being considered by the Duma. Some are
arguing for less slot machine
regulation, while others want more.
In some areas of the country, slot
machines are in real trouble. The Duma
closed all slot machine halls in
Chechnya and North Ossetia. They also
closed all slot machine casinos.
President Vladimir Putin likened slot
machines and gambling to drug addiction
and alcoholism, and wants the State Duma
to consider a bill that he came up with
that would all but eliminate slot
machines and gambling.
