Unpaid Slot Machine Debt
The
Casino Royale is still in trouble,
having paid off several creditors
earlier and gotten their ship back, they
seem to have lost is again over unpaid
slot machine bills. The owner, Steve
Yamashiro, was back in court this week
for a claim against him from PDS Gaming
Corp, a slot machine distributor. It
seems that Yamashiro and his companies
own almost $8 million for hundreds of
slot machines that they received back in
March, but that they have never paid
for.
PDS
is claiming not only did they not pay
the bill for the slot machines, but that
the slot machines were supposed to stay
on the Ocean Jewel, and Yamashiro moved
them illegally to the Casino Royale.
They claim that moving the slot machines
was a violation of the sale agreement,
even though only roughly half of them
were moved. Yamashiro bought the Ocean
Jewel in bankruptcy court earlier this
year.
Federal Marshals have had to seize the
vessel twice already for creditors, but
Yamashiro got it back after he paid off
the creditors that were holding it. The
problem is that they had to pay off
thousands of dollars in debt, this time
they are looking at millions of dollars
in debt for unpaid slot machines, which
is a pretty big difference. The ship has
been stuck in Tampa since April of this
year, while the Ocean Jewel is stuck in
the Dominican Republic. No word on how
Yamashiro is going to get out of this
one, but it looks like he is going to
have to try and settle somehow with the
slot machine company, or he will
continue to go nowhere.
