Slot Machine Interviews

The Public Broadcasting System (PBS) will be conducting separate interviews of US Senator Mike DeWine, the Republican, and US Representative Sherrod Brown, the Democratic Challenger. The two will be debating Issue 3, the Ohio Amendment that if approved it would legalize slot machines in the state. They are airing a pro-slot machines and an anti-slot machines program so that their viewing public can get both sides of the slot machine measure.

If the slot machine issue is legalized, slot machines would be put at the state’s horse racing tracks and two stand alone slot machine casinos. A portion of the slot machine revenue would go toward scholarships for high school students that choose to attend an instate college or university.

The show – entitled “NewsMaker Akron” will interview each candidate individually and ask them how they feel about bringing in slot machines, and what sorts of rules the slot machines would have to follow. In addition to slot machines, they will also be discussing health insurance and the war in Iraq.
