More Slot Machines Means More Jobs
The French Lick slot machine casino
opened its doors amidst fanfare and
orange shirts. The slot machine casino
has been trying to get its doors open
for a couple of years, and those that
supported that effort were on hand to
see it finally happen. One of the
partners in the slot machine casino was
The Cook Group, and their Chairman Steve
Ferguson brought many of the orange
shirted supporters to the stage during
the opening of the casino.
He also wanted to bring attention to the
late Jack Carnes, who was a long time
slot machine casino supporter who
unexpectedly died two years ago in an
automobile accident. His son and
daughter were on hand for the slot
machine casino’s opening, and he had his
children be the first to play the slot
machines at the opening.
Carnes daughter, Connie Cox cried and
said, “This was his dream. He would be
so in awe that all this has finally
happened."
Rep. Jerry Denbo, also a longtime
supporter of slot machines said he was
overwhelmed thinking about how far they
had come in the past 13 years, since
Indiana legalized slot machine gambling.
Residents said that not only would they
have fun playing the slot machines, but
that the slot machine casino would also
bring in jobs for their young people,
something that was sorely needed in the
area.
