Slot Machines Determine Politicians

Many believe that the race for Governor or any other political position in California will be decided by the Indian gaming tribes. With the Democrats not supporting them in their quest for more slot machines and more slot machine casinos, the tribes have decided to take their slot machines and their money and switch sides. The tribes are one of the largest and richest state lobbies in California, and they are running over the Democrats with their slot machines.

They are now throwing all of their money behind the Republicans who keep saying that they will give more slot machines to the tribes. Normally they throw their money behind the Democrats, but of the $10 million they are using to fund political campaigns this year, 85% of it will be going to the Republican Party. It seems that anyone willing to holler that they will be adding slot machines to the list of things to bring into California will get a piece of the pie.

These are the same people that said they would not assist the tribes in bringing more slot machines to the state, with the biggest one being Governor Schwarzenegger. The governor said that he would take a “hard line” against the slot machine casinos, and that is how he got himself elected in the first place. Now, by saying that he is willing to put slot machines in the state, he has the backing of the Indians as well. He told them he would drop the amount of slot machine tax that he would have normally charged, and told them they could bring in 22,000 more slot machines. The Democrats had problems with the labor and union language and vetoed the slot machine bill.
